Mouthful of Birds

One of the messiest plays I’ve ever worked on, halfway through there’s basically a balletic food fight. But this piece was extraordinary, the whole piece was like a dance with scenes seamlessly merging into the next. So I wanted to know if I could make a fluid dancing set which moved with the actors, (whilst also being a very low budget, student, studio show). We ended up having brutal, industrial structures which framed the actors, isolating them, and allowing them to break free. This open, bare space could become claustrophobic or expansive at will.

My inexhaustible gratitude to the stage managers who cleaned up oranges after every show!

(As much food as possible was waste food and was composted after the show)
